January 1st, 2005: David Phipps appointed Professional Conduct Chair for Advocis in Ottawa
Advocis is Canada's association of financial advisors. As the Professional Conduct Chair for Advocis in Ottawa, David is responsible for educating members regarding ethical conduct and professional practice standards, and for chairing disciplinary hearings. |
February 3rd, 2005: David hosts Professional Development day for 160 financial advisors in Ottawa
In his role as Best Practices Chair and Professional Conduct Chair for The Financial Advisors Association of Canada in Ottawa, David organized and hosted a professional development day attended by 160 financial advisors. David spoke to the attendees on the topic of using a Letter of Engagement to help clients understand how to maximize the benefit they receive from working with an advisor. |
February 28th, 2005: David only Ottawa advisor invited to participate as RRSP Expert by National Post
David Phipps was the only advisor from Ottawa invited by the National Post to participate as one of 10 experts from across Canada to answer readers RRSP and tax questions. Answers were published accross Canada in the National Post and it's syndicated papers. David's answers are posted under Articles and Newsletters on this site. |
April 18th, 2005: David appointed to National Best Practices Committee of The Financial Advisors Association of Canada.
David has been appointed as one of three advisors from across Canada to serve on the Best Practices Committee of Advocis, The Financial Advisors Association of Canada. The committee provides leadership on financial planning practice standards and guidelines to Canadian advisors. |
June 30th, 2005: David appointed to lead Wealth Management Practice Advisory Group for The Financial Advisors Association of Canada
David has been asked to lead the Wealth Management Practice Advisory Group for Advocis, The Financial Advisors Association of Canada. The Wealth Management Practice Advisory Group consists of senior financial advisors from across Canada who provide leadership on investment and wealth creation strategies to Canadian Financial Advisors by reviewing and recommending material published in Advocis' Best Practices Manual. |
April 26, 2006: David approved for membership in the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners
David has received the Registered Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. The TEP designation is awarded after a rigorous review process that ensures members have demonstrated expertise in the area of Trust and Estate planning. |
June 15th, 2006: David speaks on Best Practices for financial advisors at National Conference
David has been asked to speak at the 100 Year Anniversary National Conference of The Financial Advisors Association of Canada. The conference will be held June 15th, 16th and 17th in Victoria, BC. David will be speaking on Best Practices for financial advisors. |

November 2nd, 2007: David interviewed on CBC Radio about the strong Canadian dollar
David was interviewed by CBC Radio One about the strong Canadian dollar. A total of eight interviews were conducted with David across Canada - Toronto, Halifax, Whitehorse, Regina, Thunderbay, Victoria, Windsor and Winnipeg - on November 2nd, 2007. The strong Canadian dollar was discussed with specifics on how Canadians can take advantage of the strong dollar in their financial planning. |
