Clive Smith joined Assante Wealth Management in 2004 to lead the insurance and financial services division.

Clive entered the insurance industry in 1971, qualifying as an actuary in 1977. He practised as an actuary for 15 years in three different countries, before moving into broader senior management positions within the insurance industry. In 1991 he was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Royal & SunAlliance Financial, and led the company until 2001, guiding it through various phases of growth, both organically and through acquisition. Following RSA's strategic decision to focus worldwide on property and casualty insurance, Clive assisted in the sale of the company to Maritime Life, before joining Assante as Vice-President of Insurance and Financial Services.

Clive Smith is a fellow of the Canadian and British Institutes of Actuaries.
